A golf course lot home in Scottsdale was the top deal in this week’s priciest home sales in metro Phoenix. Among the buyers and sellers: professional golfer Geoff Ogilvy.


Using a trust, Mark Gilbert and Karen Simmonds of Seattle, Washington, paid cash for a property in Scottsdale’s Desert Mountain community.

The 6,832-square-foot contemporary-style house has five bedrooms, 5½ bathrooms and overlooks the second fairway of the Chiricahua golf course at Desert Mountain Golf Club.

The house features natural stone accents, Italian telescoping glass doors, Venetian plastered walls and Alder hardwood flooring. The home also has a wine cellar, an elevator and grounds that include a pool and spa.

The seller was listed as a Michigan limited liability company, 105th Street LLC.


Lance and Shonda Freeman purchased an estate with a lap pool in Scottsdale’s Dana Estates community.

Professional golfer and 2006 U.S. Open champion Geoff Oglivy and his wife, Juli, sold the two-story home that comes with a guest suite, a chef’s kitchen with retractable doors and custom contemporary finishing throughout the home.

The 7,700-square-foot property has six bedrooms and eight bathrooms. Ogilvy, an Australian, and his family moved to that country earlier this year.


Jupneesh Singh, a dentist practicing in Phoenix, and his wife, Mandeep, purchased a house with Camelback Mountain views in Paradise Valley’s Club Estates.

The custom-built property comes with a brick-paved courtyard, coffered ceilings, a kitchen with upgraded appliances and a four-car garage. The resort-style backyard features a negative-edge pool, a basketball court and a separate guest house.

The 8,941-square-foot house has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and includes a finished basement.

OneAZ Credit Union sold the house.


David and Mari Walsh paid cash for a 9,074-square-foot home in Scottsdale’s Desert Highlands community.

The Santa Barbara/Tuscan-style house comes with a gourmet kitchen, natural stone exterior wall accents, a large climate-controlled wine room and a glass-tile negative edge pool and spa.

The seller was listed as EADLE-AZ LLC, a Delaware limited liability company.


Pediatric Surgeon Wayne Truong and his wife, Emilie, purchased a modern farmhouse-style estate in Scottsdale’s Pickwick Acre community.

The single-level home features a gated front courtyard, vaulted wood-beam ceilings and multislide pocket doors for indoor/outdoor entertaining. The 4,571-square-foot house has four bedrooms and 3½ bathrooms.

Kerdos Capital & Investments LLC, an Arizona limited liability company, sold the house.
